We talked with Elder Stimpson last  Monday on our way to our vacation spot.  He sounded a little glum.  He had to face one of the toughest things in his life- the first week out on mission field.  Here's what he said:

hey everyone this is my first week in the field and it has been a fun one. I received a latino companion who doesn't know english for squat. but he is kind just like a lot of the people here. my spanish is improving but it is still difficult because of how fast they speak and how they skip a lot of their "s". but its what god planned for me. The living conditions are not what I thought and nothing like utah. It's a lot like korea just dirtier and more cramped. but I was told this is the "pits" even though it is close to the capital. the traffic is so unorganized I am lucky I have a companion from here. otherwise I would have been hit by many motorcycles. Its very humid here even worse than places like florida its also very hot and I can barely deal with it. another thing I already have my first baptism even though its my first week and we have another coming up. I'll send some pictures. but It has been the hardest part of my life but it only gets better.

His voice actually sounded glum on phone.   We were only able to talk on phone due to sporadic data coverage.  I hope that talking with us would cheer him up to face more of insurmountable challenges as a greenie.

The living arrangement was so different when we asked him to describe it, it sounded like he was overwhelmed with it that he had no word to describe it.  He did said that he ate a lot of fried bread, vegetables, chicken and beans/rice as his diet for the week.  He said heat and humidity was nearly unbearable.  He is trying his best to deal with it.  I think I will have to look up on amazon and see what be done to reduce the possibility of heat stroke.

He lost his wallet on his way to his area.  We will take care of the problem in the best way we can.  Meanwhile, we can use some prayers so that he can find his wallet again!
